This section contains answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Xactly Incent.

Q     What does an orange asterisk (*) mean on a form in the application?

A     Whenever you see an orange asterisk, it means that the field is required. There are a few exceptions in the application, which are documented.

Q     What do the bold fields mean on a form in the application?

A     Bold fields mean that the fields are searchable.

Q     Why are there times when my rules do not fire, even if there are formulas used?

A     Make sure any formula that you use has opening and closing parentheses surrounding the entire
formula.

Q     How do I add a new person and assign them to a plan?

A     First, add the Person as a User (Setup > Users), then add the Person to the Organization (Organization > People), and then either assign the Person to an existing Position or add a new Position for the
Person (Organization > Hierarchy).

Q     How do I disable a person’s access to Xactly Incent?
A     Log into Xactly Incent, select the user, and uncheck the Incent Access checkbox.

Q     How does an Administrator reset a user’s password?

A     In Xactly Incent, select Setup > Users, uncheck the Incent Access box, and click the Save button. Then check the Incent Access box again, and click the Save button. The User will receive an email with a new temporary password.

Q     What is the difference between an order and a credit?

A     An order has an amount associated with it. A credit is the portion of the order that is associated with a person. For example, if an order if $1000 and two people worked on the order, they each receive a $500 credit.

Q     If I create a quota or rate table, how do I know what value is associated with a person?

A     A Title overrides a Default value, but a Position overrides both Title quota values and Default quota values.

Q     Why won’t my orders upload?

A     If your orders aren’t uploading, check the format for each column in the Excel template to make sure that each column header is listed. Also, make sure to place an End of File <EOF> marker in the first blank row of the template file.

Q     What is the difference between Personal Currency, Payment Currency, and Salary
Currency?

A     Personal Currency is the currency of the personal target.
Payment Currency is the currency in which payments will be calculated for the person.
note:   If the currency rate conversions do not exist for converting the commissions/bonuses into the payment currency, they will be left in the calculated currency.
Salary Currency is used for informational purposes only, and is not used by the system for
calculations.

Q     What is the difference between a Commission and a Bonus?
A     Commissions and Bonuses are defined by the type of rule that creates the incentive payment.

Q     How can I turn a rule off?

A     Turn off a Rule by selecting their active start and end dates.

Q     What is the difference between a Title Name and a Position Name when I see the
instructions Assign by Title or Assign by Position?

A     Titles are used for a group of people, such as Sales Representatives, whereas Positions are unique
jobs within the hierarchy.

Q     Can I enter a string into a formula?

A     You can use strings to compare fields in relational formulas.

Q     What happens if an attainment falls across two tiers?

A     Rate tables calculate on a unit-by-unit basis (for example, cent by cent) so if an order crosses tiers, part will be paid at the lower tier and part at the higher tier.

Q     Why is a Personal Target required?

A     A Personal Target is required to provide baseline data for certain standard reports. A Personal Target is not required for incentive calculations.

Q     Why don’t pop-up blockers show a pop-up screen in the application?

A     Xactly Incent is not set up to display pop-up blockers screens.
