More than Technology: Helping Others Reach their Dreams at #DF16
We are just over five weeks away from Dreamforce— the cloud event of the year! From groundbreaking technology to amazing musical guests, #DF16 is a must-attend show. But behind the announcements, buzz, and excitement, there is another element of Dreamforce that is near and dear to our hearts – giving back.
Supporting the communities in which we live and work is ingrained in Xactly’s DNA. When our CEO Christopher Cabrera founded Xactly in 2005, one of the first things he did was start the company’s philanthropic organization, XactlyOne. The employee-run organization has since donated thousands of hours and dollars supporting local charities from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to the Family Giving Tree and recently became an official 501c3 foundation.
As such, one of our favorite aspects of Dreamforce is finding moments amongst the hustle and bustle to lend our hands to a number of worthy causes. Here are a few of the planned #DFGives charitable activities where you will be sure to see one of our employees proudly representing in their Xactly orange:
One of the highlights of Dreamforce every year is the epic appreciation concert. But more than just a way to say thank you to Dreamforce sponsors and supporters, each year these concerts raise valuable funds for important causes. We can’t think of anyone we would want to support more than this year’s beneficiary, the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. This year attendees can party till the cows come home (quite literally, the event is at the Cow Palace) with a special performance by U2, followed by an after-party with will.i.am and Oakland native – MC Hammer! Proceeds from the event will support children’s health and research.
This year, Salesforce has joined forces with (RED), the organization created by Bono and Bobby Shriver, whose mission is to create awareness and raise funds to fight AIDS. Throughout the show, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in dance parties, purchase merchandise, and join a host of other activities to support this important cause.
Ensuring gender equality and fair pay in the workplace is of critical importance to the Xactly. Instead of ignoring the issue, Christopher Cabrera has publicly shared the cases of inequality he found within Xactly and how he rectified them. More importantly, he has called upon his peers and other leaders in the industry to do the same. Salesforce has been a tireless champion of this cause as well, so it comes as no surprise that they dedicated a day at Dreamforce to Women’s Leadership & Equality. Events will include enabling students to become entrepreneurs for a day, launching and running a lemonade business, and a girls coding day. So make sure you stop by and grab a cool, refreshing lemonade treat, as the proceeds will go to support (RED).
While we know Dreamforce can be hectic, we hope you will work in time to support one, or all, of these causes. “Many hands make light work” as they say and with the volume of hands at Dreamforce – yours can help make a huge impact for those in need. Incenting Generation Y: Why It’s Important
Generation Y is now an increasing portion of the workforce, and their motivators are quite different from earlier generations. These Millennials, born between 1980 and 2000, grew up in a land of computers and mobile phones, and what motivates them at work may surprise you. Incenting this group properly will lead to an engaged and productive employee.
