SAN JOSE, Calif. – July 17, 2012 – Xactly Corporation, the leader in cloud-based incentive compensation and sales performance management (SPM), today announced that it has been named a “Hot” vendor in Ventana Research’s 2012 Value Index for Sales Performance Management (SPM) report for the second year in a row. The “Hot” distinction is the highest possible rating available. Xactly outranked competitors Varicent and Callidus in the report.

This Ventana Research Value Index is an analytic representation of how well vendors' offerings meet buyers’ requirements for software that enables and supports SPM. The report evaluated Xactly’s solutions on seven key categories, including product usability, manageability, reliability, capability and adaptability and customer TCO and validation.

The report notes that “more than half (52 percent) of sales organizations regularly use desktop spreadsheets, which a similar number (49 percent) reported make it difficult to manage sales effectively,” as well as being error-prone and not an “efficient nor a safe method for managing sales.” The report adds that “organizations that invest in sales performance management competitively outpace others.” According to the report, key drivers propelling companies to consider SPM offerings include a desire to gain better access to information, improve analytics and enable better collaboration and mobility across sales organizations.

“Congrats to Xactly for its continued commitment to helping sales operate efficiently and help provide the applications for delivering the best possible performance,” said Mark Smith, CEO & Chief Research Officer of Ventana Research. “Xactly’s well balanced portfolio of delivering quality applications and especially its highest hot ranking on Usability and Adaptability provides a solid foundation that sales organizations should investigate.”

“Receiving the highest possible rating in Value Index for SPM for the second year is a not only a testament to Xactly’s leadership position in the market, but also to our aptitude for consistent customer excellence and product advancement,” said Christopher Cabrera, president and CEO, Xactly Corporation. “But as the research shows, beyond efficient and accurate commissions calculations, organizations have a growing desire to use “big data” around sales to better understand performance and make better business decisions, anytime, anywhere. Our continued advancements in these areas are helping customers gain the real-time intelligence they need to operate more nimbly and compete better in their respective markets.”

Ventana Research Value Index

The Value Indexes are the product of more than two decades of experience and knowledge of the market and of in-depth analyses of technology suppliers’ products. The technology vendors earning the highest Hot and Warm Vendor classifications are those that Ventana Research certifies best deliver buyer value based on a thorough evaluation and audit – that is, based on research and verifiable facts. The Value Index is not just a selection of “cool” products, and rather than merely representing a vendor on a four-quadrant chart, the Index provides specific thermometer readings, both overall and of a series of component metrics, for a technology buyer to consider. Organizations can use the Value Index by first determining their priorities and then consulting the Index to determine which vendors best meet those needs.
