What do sports legends Joe Montana and Brett Hull have in common with Xactly? As of today, we have all proudly sported the number 16! This weekend, Xactly was named a Top Workplace by The Bay Area News Group for the sixth year. While this is an impressive feat by itself, what is more notable is that this award marks the 16th time that Xactly has been recognized for being a stellar workplace.

I have long subscribed to the mantra that in business, “culture is the new currency.” Money alone can get an employee to come work for you. But it can’t inspire them to give their all and motivate those around them to do the same. Only culture can do that.

When I founded Xactly 13 years ago, I set out to build a different kind of company that put employees and customers first. At a time when Silicon Valley office grandeur was growing, I knew it would take something more substantial than fancy perks and salaries alone – those elements are fleeting. What matters more is creating an environment where employees serve a common mission, know how they fit in the team, and can see how their contributions are moving the needle, both personally and professionally.

At Xactly, our employees are grounded in four simple, but powerful values we call C.A.R.E. – Customer Focus, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. If you ask anyone in the halls what Xactly stands for they will tell you the meaning of C.A.R.E. without hesitancy. We all know it. We all live it. It’s the foundation of our company, it’s what makes us a great place to work, and in my mind, it's the cornerstone of our continued growth and success.

And what I’m mostly proud about is how these values have transcended to our offices throughout the world. We have received 16 best place awards, two are first time wins for our Denver and UK offices, who were recently named Top Workplaces by The Denver Post and number 10 on Sales Confidence’s list of the “Top 50 UK SaaS Companies to Work For.”  

No matter which office I am in, I am continually humbled and inspired by the dedication and passion our employees show for our company, customers and each other.

So while my “16” does not come with a Super Bowl ring or a Stanley Cup, I couldn’t be prouder to work amongst the hundreds of employees who continue to make Xactly legendary every day.
